Square

On the next edition of Techspotting, Ryan and I talk about a novel device that attaches to your iPhone or iPad and enables you to take credit card payments. It is quite as simple as that. The device is called Square and you can get one at Squareup.com or you can pick one up at the Apple Store. The unit is free as well as the Square app on iTunes. Square makes its money from the transactions you complete.

If you are a small business, perhaps working at a retail outlet or selling product at a craft fair, Square might be the perfect device for you. There is no limit on how much you can receive on a transaction but to minimize financial risk, Square will pay out $1000 per week. According to Square, that amount increases as a business track record gets established.
